The Best Luma Dream Machine Alternative

Luma AI Dream Machine as of October 2026

Many people still search for Luma AI Dream Machine, the name Luma's video product went by. Today lumalabs.ai sells credit plans built around the Ray models. The newest, Ray3.2, covers image to video, text to video, Modify Video and Reframe in a single model, and Luma calls it its most versatile video model so far. The same pricing page lists the earlier Ray3.14 and a set of third-party models: Seedance 2.0 and 2.5, MiniMax H3, Flux 3, Veo 3.1 and Kling 3.0. In other words, Luma is no longer a one-model app; it is a platform that resells some of the same model families we do.

Here is what the Luma AI video generator does with Ray3.2, according to Luma's own pages:

  • Keyframes: image to video can be steered with up to 16 keyframes.
  • Length: text and image prompts produce 5 or 10 seconds natively. Modify Video handles about 20 seconds, and Reframe accepts a source of up to 16 seconds.
  • Resolution: 360p, 540p, 720p (the default) or 1080p, with 16-bit HDR and EXR export in the ACES2065-1 color space.
  • Audio: text to video and image to video come back without natively generated sound.
  • Extras: Multi-Keyframe, Modify Video V2, Motion Transfer, Reframe and Luma Agents.

On Plus, a 5-second Ray3.2 image to video clip in standard dynamic range costs 20 credits as a Draft, 50 at 540p, 100 at 720p and 400 at 1080p. That works out to about $0.06, $0.15, $0.30 and $1.20 per clip, and HDR doubles the credits while HDR with EXR triples them. Plus includes commercial use.

What ImageVideoAI Offers as a Luma Dream Machine Alternative

ImageVideoAI has no model of its own, Ray or otherwise. Your upload or prompt is routed to whichever of Kling, Veo, Seedance, Hailuo and Wan you pick, and each clip carries a fixed credit price that appears before you generate. The comparison below sets Luma's Ray3.2 against that lineup.

If sound in the same render is the reason you are leaving Luma, start with Veo 3.1, which adds audio to every clip it makes, from 65 credits for 8 seconds at 720p on Lite. Lite, Fast and Quality are weighed against each other by our Veo 3.1 AI video generator guide.

For a 4K master or several shots in one generation, Kling 3.0 is the closer fit, and it can add sound on request. Details on its three versions are in our Kling AI video generator breakdown.

For one long take, Seedance 2.5 and Wan 3.0 run to 30 seconds, three times Ray3.2's native maximum. A typical starting point is Wan at 59 credits for a 720p, 5-second clip, and our Wan AI video generator notes show how its frames and audio work.

Where Luma Is the Stronger Choice

Luma has real advantages, and for some projects it is the better buy:

  • Finishing work. HDR and EXR export, Reframe and Modify Video are built for a post-production pipeline. ImageVideoAI only generates and downloads clips; it has no editing or color tools.
  • Price per 720p clip. At about $0.30 on Plus, a 720p Ray3.2 clip costs less than a 720p clip from Kling 3.0, MiniMax H3, Wan 3.0 or Seedance 2.5 here. Only our budget setting, Seedance 1.0 Pro Fast at 14 credits for 720p, about $0.28 on Starter, undercuts it, and only by a couple of cents.
  • Many keyframes. Sixteen guide frames give far more control over a path than the first-and-last-frame option here.
  • Ray plus resold models on one plan. If you want Ray3.2 and also Kling, Veo, Seedance or MiniMax H3 under one subscription, Luma covers that. We couldn't confirm Luma's per-clip price for those third-party models.

ImageVideoAI makes more sense when you want audio from the model itself, clips past 10 seconds, native 4K, or a cheaper plan to start with. The full list of plans and packs sits on our pricing page.

Luma Alternative FAQ

Luma Dream Machine free tier 2026: is there one?

Not on the official pricing page as of October 2026. It lists Plus, Pro and Ultra, plus Team and Enterprise, but no free plan. Luma's home page has a "Try for free" button without naming an allowance, so we can't confirm current free credits or whether free clips carry a watermark. Luma only states that paid plans have no watermark.

Luma Dream Machine pricing 2026: what does one clip cost?

Plus is $30 a month, or $25 billed yearly, for 10,000 credits. A 5-second Ray3.2 image to video clip uses 20 credits as a Draft, 100 at 720p and 400 at 1080p, about $0.06, $0.30 and $1.20 on Plus. HDR doubles those credits and HDR with EXR triples them. Pro and Ultra add more credits at a lower cost per credit.

Does the Luma Dream Machine AI video generator add sound?

Not with Ray3.2's text or image to video, according to Luma, which says there is no natively generated audio for those modes. If you need a Luma Dream Machine AI video generator substitute that renders sound with the picture, Veo 3.1, MiniMax H3, Wan 3.0 and Seedance 2.5 all do on ImageVideoAI, as does Kling 3.0 when audio is switched on.

Does ImageVideoAI use Luma's Ray models?

No. Ray3.2 and Ray3.14 are Luma's own models, and neither is offered on this site. ImageVideoAI has no ties to Luma; its catalog comes from five outside model makers, and each clip is priced in its own credits. Clean, commercial-use downloads come with any paid plan or credit pack.

Is ImageVideoAI cheaper than Luma?

It depends on the clip. The entry plan costs less, $9.99 against $30, and guests get a free daily video. Per clip, though, a 720p Ray3.2 render on Luma's Plus plan is about $0.30, while a 720p Kling 3.0 clip here is about $0.84 and Seedance 2.5 about $3.66. For many short silent 720p clips, Luma usually wins on price.
