The Best Grok Imagine Alternative
Grok Imagine is xAI's image and video generator, and ImageVideoAI doesn't offer it. If you need a Grok Imagine alternative for turning photos into clips with sound, compare it here with the Kling, Veo, Hailuo, Seedance and Wan models we run.
What Grok Imagine Can Do, as of October 2026
Grok Imagine sits at grok.com/imagine and in xAI's developer API. The newest model there is grok-imagine-video-1.5, listed next to an older grok-imagine-video and a cheaper grok-imagine-video-1.5-lite. The Grok video generator accepts written prompts as well as still images, and apart from the last item, the list below comes from xAI's developer documentation rather than the consumer site:
- Resolution: 480p by default, with 720p and 1080p on request. Version 1.5 renders 1080p natively when it starts from an image, while reference-to-video is capped at 720p.
- Length: any duration from 1 to 15 seconds per API request.
- Sound: xAI states that generated videos include an audio track by default, and preset voices are available.
- Frames: sending a last frame or a set of keyframes turns a grok image to video request into reference-to-video.
- Editing: video editing with results up to 8.7 seconds at 720p, video extension, and reference-to-video that can carry up to three voices.
- Templates: the web app offers ready-made presets such as Hero Product Reveal.
Why People Look for a Grok Imagine Alternative
Searches such as "grok video limit reached" and "grok imagine no longer free" suggest that access and limits on grok.com push many people to look elsewhere. We couldn't confirm xAI's current consumer plans, free allowance or watermark rules as of October 2026, so this page doesn't state them. Other reasons are easier to pin down: a clip longer than 15 seconds, a 4K master, several shots inside one render, or simply a different model's look on the same photo.
Clips With Sound From Other Models on ImageVideoAI
ImageVideoAI is an independent site with no model of its own. It passes your photo and prompt to Kling, Veo, Seedance, Hailuo or Wan through their APIs. If the built-in audio was what you liked about the Grok AI video generator, five of those families can return a clip with sound, and the table shows how they differ.
| Model on ImageVideoAI | Audio | Longest clip | Sharpest output | Sample render and price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MiniMax H3 | Included | 15 s, from a 5 s minimum | 2K | A 720p, 5 s clip: 30 credits |
| Wan 3.0 | Default on | 30 s, from a 2 s minimum | 1080p | A 720p, 5 s clip: 59 credits |
| Kling 3.0 | Optional | 15 s, from a 3 s minimum | 4K | A 1080p, 5 s clip with sound: 84 credits |
| Veo 3.1 | In every clip | 8 s, or 4 and 6 s | 4K, Quality and Fast tiers only | A Lite 720p, 8 s clip: 65 credits |
| Seedance 2.5 | Included | 30 s, from a 4 s minimum | 720p | A 720p, 5 s clip: 183 credits |
MiniMax H3 is the nearest match for a Grok-length clip: up to 15 seconds, sound included, first and last frames, and output as high as 2K. Settings and credit prices for H3, plus the older silent 2.3 line, are laid out on our Hailuo AI video generator page in full.
When 15 seconds isn't enough, Alibaba's Wan 3.0 stretches a single clip to 30 seconds at up to 1080p, and its audio is on by default. Our Wan AI video generator write-up goes deeper into its lengths, frame controls and prices.
One upload can feed several of them: open the home page's image to video AI tool and change the model between renders.
Grok Imagine Video API Price vs Credits Here
xAI publishes per-second API prices for its Grok Imagine video models. As of October 2026, version 1.5 costs $0.08 a second, so a 5-second clip is about $0.40; the lite model is $0.02 a second and the older model $0.05. Those are developer rates. We couldn't confirm what grok.com's own subscriptions charge, so they are left out here.
On ImageVideoAI's Starter plan, the 5-second, 720p clips above come to roughly $0.60 on MiniMax H3, $0.84 on silent Kling 3.0 and $1.18 on Wan 3.0. Put plainly, xAI's API is cheaper per clip than any of those. What you pay for here is a choice of five model families without writing API code, a credit price shown before every render, and an automatic refund when a job fails. Plan prices and pack sizes are listed in full on the pricing page.
When Grok Imagine Is the Better Choice
Grok Imagine does several things this site can't, and in those cases it is the right tool:
- Editing or extending an existing clip. xAI offers both; ImageVideoAI only creates new clips from a photo or a prompt.
- Voices. Grok has preset voices and reference-to-video with up to three of them. There's no voice selection or lip sync here.
- Building with an API. At $0.08 a second for version 1.5, or $0.02 for lite, xAI's rates beat our per-clip prices.
- Working inside Grok already. Images and video sit in the same app you use for chat.
If you'd rather use Grok's model next to others on one account, note that Pika's site lists Grok Imagine 1.5 among its models as of October 2026. Our Pika alternative page covers what else that platform sells.
Grok Imagine Alternative FAQ
Grok AI video generation capabilities 2026: what can it do?
According to xAI's developer docs as of October 2026, a grok-imagine-video-1.5 clip can run anywhere between 1 and 15 seconds, at 480p, 720p or 1080p, from a prompt or an image, with an audio track included by default. It can also follow a last frame or keyframes, edit a clip into a result of up to 8.7 seconds at 720p, and extend existing videos.
Is Grok Imagine free?
We couldn't confirm it. As of October 2026, xAI's consumer plans and any free allowance for Grok Imagine weren't visible on the pages we could check, and third-party claims don't agree, so we don't repeat them. What xAI does publish is the API rate. On ImageVideoAI, a guest can make one 480p clip a day without an account, and signing up adds 30 credits, exactly one 720p MiniMax H3 clip with sound, plus 5 daily credits that don't build up.
Grok xAI video generation feature 2026: can it turn a photo into a video?
Yes. xAI's image-to-video endpoint accepts a still, and version 1.5 renders it natively at 1080p. Adding a last frame or keyframes switches the job to reference-to-video, which tops out at 720p. On ImageVideoAI the same kind of job runs on any of five model families, with first and last frames available on Kling, Veo, H3 and Wan.
Does ImageVideoAI offer Grok Imagine video?
No. Grok Imagine video isn't part of ImageVideoAI, and the site has no connection to xAI. Its five model families are built by Google, Kuaishou, Alibaba, MiniMax and ByteDance, and every clip is paid for in ImageVideoAI credits. Mentions of Grok on this page are comparisons drawn from xAI's documentation, not features you can use here.
Which Grok Imagine alternative works best for longer clips?
Wan 3.0 and Seedance 2.5 both reach 30 seconds per clip with sound, against 15 seconds on Grok's API. Wan goes up to 1080p and costs 59 credits for 5 seconds at 720p. Seedance 2.5 stops at 720p and costs 183 credits for the same clip, so start with Wan unless you prefer Seedance's look.
