The Best AI Video Generators in 2026
The best AI video generator depends on the job: writing scenes from scratch, reworking footage, or getting sound with the picture. Here are ten tools grouped by those jobs, priced as of October 2026, with our own site clearly marked.
Comparison Table: 10 Generators at a Glance
Prices are the cheapest monthly plan published on each official site in October 2026. Where a company only publishes API rates, the table says so; where nothing was readable, it says not confirmed.
| Tool | Main job | Longest clip | Native sound | Entry price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Runway | Generation plus an editing toolkit | 10 s on Gen-4.5 | Not stated for Gen-4.5; separate music, voice and effects tools | $15 a month |
| Luma | Keyframes, modify and reframe | 10 s, about 20 s when modifying | None | $30 a month |
| Google Flow | Veo 3.1 and Gemini Omni Flash | 8 s on Veo 3.1, extendable on Lite | Always on with Veo 3.1 | 50 free credits daily; Pro $19.99 a month |
| Kling (kling.ai) | Multi-shot text to video | 15 s on 3.0 | Native audio mode | $6.99 first month, then $8.80 |
| PixVerse | 15-second 1080p clips with audio | 15 s | Yes, on V6 | API only: about $0.20 per 5 s |
| Vidu | Storyboards and templates | 16 s | On by default for Q3 | API only: from about $0.28 per 5 s |
| Grok Imagine | Fast iteration from xAI | 15 s through the API | Audio track by default | API only: $0.40 per 5 s |
| Higgsfield | Many models plus camera presets | 15 s on Kling 3.0 | Depends on the model | $19 a month in the US |
| ImageVideoAI (our site) | Five model families, pay per clip | 30 s on two of its models | On most models | $9.99 a month |
| Pika | Creative apps and keyframes | 10 s per clip | None on Pika 2.5 | $10 a month |
The 10 Generators, Grouped by Job
The list runs by use case rather than rank: editing and post-production first, then text to video with sound, then multi-model workspaces, then creative effects apps.
1. Runway: generation with an editing toolkit
Runway's Gen-4.5 handles both text and image prompts, producing clips of 2 to 10 seconds at 720p, with 4K upscaling from the Standard plan. Around it sits a full creative suite: music, voice and sound effect generation, the Aleph 2.0 model, an agent, and Kling 3.0 and Seedance 2.x on higher plans.
- Where it shines: a wide set of in-house tools for people who want to keep working on a clip after it's generated.
- Drawbacks: a 5-second Gen-4.5 clip is about $1.44 on Standard, the free plan's 125 credits are one-time and watermarked, and Runway doesn't say whether Gen-4.5 itself makes sound.
- Cost as of October 2026: Standard is $15 a month ($12 a month yearly) for 625 credits, which Runway says equals 52 seconds of Gen-4.5. Looking elsewhere? Our Runway alternative page compares options.
2. Luma: control for editors
Luma's Ray3.2 model takes text, images or existing footage. Modify Video reworks an existing clip of up to about 20 seconds, Reframe changes its aspect ratio, and exports reach 1080p with 16-bit HDR and EXR files for color grading.
- Where it shines: built for post-production pipelines, with up to 16 keyframes when animating stills and a cheap draft mode for blocking out shots.
- Drawbacks: no audio generated with text or image prompts, new clips are 5 or 10 seconds, and the pricing page lists no free plan.
- Cost as of October 2026: the Plus plan costs $30 monthly for 10,000 credits; a 720p Ray3.2 clip of 5 seconds uses 100 credits, about $0.30.
3. Google Flow: Veo 3.1 and Gemini Omni Flash
Flow is Google's filmmaking app. Besides Veo 3.1, it runs Gemini Omni Flash, which Google made its default video model in May 2026, and includes scene editing tools. Veo 3.1 clips last up to 8 seconds with sound always on; Lite clips can be extended.
- Where it shines: 50 free Flow credits every day for everyone, enough for several Lite generations, and two Google models in one place.
- Drawbacks: free users may be blocked during peak hours, roughly 2 PM to 5 PM UTC; you must be 18 or older; Google embeds SynthID, an invisible watermark, in every output.
- Cost as of October 2026: subscribing to Google AI Pro ($19.99 monthly) brings 1,000 extra Flow credits per month on top of the daily ones.
4. Kling: multi-shot scenes from a prompt
Kuaishou's Kling 3.0 is strong at text to video that needs more than one angle: a storyboard mode cuts between up to 6 shots, each with its own camera direction, in a single clip of up to 15 seconds. A native audio mode adds sound. Kling 4.0, with 30-second clips and stereo audio, is announced for October 2026.
- Where it shines: storyboard control and app-only tools such as Motion Control and lip sync.
- Drawbacks: the Basic plan has no monthly credits and its output isn't licensed for commercial use.
- Cost as of October 2026: Standard runs $8.80 a month after a $6.99 first month, or $79.20 a year, with 660 credits monthly.
5. PixVerse: 15-second clips with audio
PixVerse V6 generates up to 15 seconds at 1080p with native audio, including dialogue, sound effects and ambience, and supports multi-shot scenes, first and last frames, extend, modify and lip sync. A large template library aims at marketing and short-drama teams.
- Where it shines: long, sound-on clips with lip sync in the same product.
- Drawbacks: the web subscription page was blocked when we checked, so plan prices, the free allowance and watermark rules aren't confirmed.
- Cost as of October 2026: the developer API charges $1 for five 5-second V6 clips at 720p without audio, about $0.20 each. Our PixVerse alternative page covers the consumer side.
6. Vidu: storyboards, references and templates
ShengShu's Vidu Q3 makes clips from 1 to 16 seconds, 1080p at most, and its audio, with dialogue and sound effects, is on by default. Q3-pro adds storyboard generation, and the site offers reference-to-video for keeping several characters consistent, plus ready-made templates such as AI Hug and AI Kissing.
- Where it shines: clips up to 16 seconds with sound, and an off-peak mode that cuts API prices roughly in half.
- Drawbacks: web plan prices load in the browser and weren't confirmed; new accounts receive trial credits in an unpublished amount.
- Cost as of October 2026: through the API, a 5-second 720p clip costs about $0.28 on Q3-turbo or $0.50 on Q3-pro.
7. Grok Imagine: quick drafts from xAI
Through xAI's API, version 1.5 of Grok Imagine generates 1- to 15-second clips, defaulting to 480p and going up to 1080p, with an audio track included. It can also edit and extend videos, and accepts first frames, last frames and keyframes.
- Where it shines: sound by default and a lite model at $0.10 per 5 seconds for rough drafts.
- Drawbacks: consumer plan prices and the free allowance couldn't be confirmed from xAI's pages, and edited clips are capped at 720p.
- Cost as of October 2026: the API charges $0.08 a second, $0.40 for 5 seconds; our Grok Imagine alternative page sets it against the models we run.
8. Higgsfield: many models and camera presets
Higgsfield bundles Veo 3.1, Wan 2.7, Kling 3.0 and two Seedance versions, among others, and adds Cinema Studio, a virtual camera workflow, plus a large set of effects. First and last frames, motion control and video editing are built in.
- Where it shines: a Kling 3.0 clip of 5 seconds at 720p costs about 10 credits, roughly $0.70 on the US Starter plan, and higher plans let some models run without spending credits, in a standard queue.
- Drawbacks: prices differ by region, device and experiment group, and Higgsfield's help center and its own pricing data describe the free plan differently.
- Cost as of October 2026: US visitors see Starter at $19 a month for 270 credits.
9. ImageVideoAI (our site): five model families, one balance
This entry is ours, so read it with that in mind. You can generate from a written prompt or a photo on Wan 3.0, Seedance, Kling, Veo 3.1 and Hailuo's MiniMax H3, with each clip's price in credits shown before you start and refunded if the render fails. Seedance's newest release and Wan both stretch to half a minute per clip.
- Where it shines: text to video on every model family from one balance, no separate memberships, and one free photo clip a day without an account.
- Drawbacks: no in-house model, no editing suite, no lip sync and no Sora. Two of our models, Wan 3.0 and Seedance 2.5, are priced above what some other sites charge.
- Cost as of October 2026: 500 credits cost $9.99 a month on Starter, and 42 of them buy a Kling 3.0 clip of 5 seconds at 720p, roughly $0.84. For prompt structure, the text to video AI walkthrough helps.
10. Pika: creative apps and keyframes
Pika's own Pika 2.5 model targets 1080p motion, and around it sit small creative apps: Color Grade, Product Ad, Extend Video, Motion Transfer and Swap Anything, plus Pikaframes for keyframe transitions. Video Studio is pitched as making 30-second multi-shot pieces, and third-party models such as Wan 3.0, MiniMax H3 and Seedance 2.5 are sold alongside it.
- Where it shines: playful effects in one place, and a free plan without a watermark.
- Drawbacks: that free plan includes no monthly credits, Pika 2.5 renders silent, and the Starter plan carries no commercial license.
- Cost as of October 2026: $10 a month on Starter buys 900 credits, and Seedance 2.5 at 720p uses 122 per 5-second clip, about $1.36; the Pika alternative page lines its prices up with ours.
Best for Image to Video
If your starting point is a photo rather than a prompt, the field looks a little different: official model apps, free daily options and tools built around keyframes matter more than editing suites. We cover that in a separate list of the best image to video AI tools, with ten picks grouped by photo type and budget.
The Best Free AI Video Generator Options
Free plans exist, but each has a catch. Here is what the official pages said in October 2026:
| Tool | What's free | Catch |
|---|---|---|
| Google Flow | 50 credits a day | Peak-hour limits without a subscription |
| Runway | 125 credits, once | Watermarked, and they never refresh |
| Pika | A plan with no watermark | Zero monthly credits; you buy packs |
| Vidu | Trial credits on sign-up, plus daily login credits | Amounts not published |
| Kling | A Basic plan | No monthly credits, not for commercial use |
| ImageVideoAI (our site) | One photo clip a day, no account; 30 credits on sign-up | 480p and watermarked for guests; credits expire after 30 days |
If free is the top priority, Google Flow's daily credits give the most generation on a well-known model. Our 30 sign-up credits are smaller: five 480p drafts on Seedance 1.0 Pro Fast, or one cheaper clip each from two or three models, with Kling 3.0 and Wan 3.0 out of reach until you pay. Our AI video generator page lists every free allowance and what it buys.
How We Picked, and Why Sora Isn't Here
We read each company's own pricing pages, help centers and model documentation on October 7 and 8, 2026, and kept only what those sources state. We didn't rate image quality: it varies too much with the prompt, and a single score would mislead. Prices in credits were converted to dollars using the cheapest monthly plan.
Sora isn't on this list of the best AI video generators because it no longer exists as a product. OpenAI announced in March 2026 that it would discontinue Sora, and removed the Sora models from its API on September 24, 2026. If you used it, our Sora alternative page maps its features to models you can still run.
FAQ
What's the best AI video generator?
There isn't one winner; it depends on the job. For editing what you generate, Runway and Luma have the deepest toolkits. If you need audio, Google Flow's Veo 3.1, PixVerse V6 and Vidu Q3 all generate it by default. For trying several models from one account, a multi-model site such as Higgsfield or ours makes comparison easier.
What's the best free AI video generator?
Google Flow gives the most daily free generation on a major model: 50 credits a day, enough for several Veo 3.1 Lite clips, though free users can be blocked at peak hours. Runway gives 125 one-time credits with a watermark, and our site gives one photo clip a day without an account. Every free plan we found has a cap, a watermark or both.
What's the best AI text to video converter?
For multi-angle scenes, Kling 3.0's storyboard mode is built for the job. For clips with sound, Veo 3.1 and PixVerse V6 both generate audio with the picture, and Vidu Q3 adds storyboards. Prompts matter as much as the model: describe the subject, action, setting, camera and style, and expect to try a few versions.
Which AI video generators make sound?
Veo 3.1 always does, Grok Imagine includes an audio track by default, Vidu Q3 and PixVerse V6 generate dialogue and effects, and Kling 3.0 offers sound as a mode. Silent options include Luma's Ray3.2 and Pika 2.5, while Runway offers music, voice and effects as separate tools. On our site, MiniMax H3, Veo 3.1, Wan 3.0, every Seedance 2.x version, and Kling 3.0 with its audio switch on all produce sound.
Can I use AI generated clips for commercial work?
Usually on paid plans, but the terms differ. Kling's free Basic output and Pika's Starter plan aren't licensed for commercial use, while Pika's Creator plan is. On our site, clips made during a paid plan or with an active credit pack stay licensed for commercial use after you cancel; free clips are for personal use.
